A few days ago at Eteron Institute, in collaboration with Alexandria Publications / Εκδόσεις Αλεξάνδρεια, we hosted Judith Butler in Athens with the support of Technopolis City Of Athens. The event was organized on the occasion of the release of their latest book, “Who’s Afraid of Gender?”.
Hundreds of participants packed the Kypseli Municipal Market to capacity, even spilling out onto Fokionos Negri Street. The remarkable turnout for an internationally recognized philosopher whose work has reshaped gender studies and queer theory was summed up in the line, “This day will go down in the history of queer Athens.”
With those words, Anastasia Vaitsopoulou closes her piece in today’s Efimerida ton Syntakton (Η Εφημερίδα των Συντακτών) about the event. A testament to its impact.
